Marketing 101 ...
When the tourists are out looking for somewhere to enjoy a nice meal and bottle of wine or two, this is not the best way to tempt them into your restaurant. Bless.
WOULD YOU GO INTO THIS BAR?
They may not be smiling, but bet you are!
Oh beautiful Prague – Travel Photography heaven. A pure tourist’s delight and one of my most favourite places to visit. Yes, I have taken photos of all the gloriously beautiful sights like the Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square, and the Castle – but this just has to be one of my favourite photos from Prague (scroll down to see the photo in full). Two guys working in a bar – no customers – and frankly unlikely to attract them, unless out of pity. This is really not the way to sell.
Taking the shot before it’s too late
I took this in February 2016 as Nick and I were about to go into a quirky little Georgian wine bar, called Guga Bar, that had caught our eye (fab wine, great atmosphere and service, can highly recommend). These poor guys opposite didn’t have a single customer – can’t think why as they seem so warm, friendly and welcoming!
Bless them – we did think about popping in to give them some hope … but the Guga Bar, its wine and its welcoming ambience made us think again. I’ll be honest – I almost didn’t take this photo even though my camera was all set, as was I, in true street photography style. I thought it would be rude. It probably was. But Nick convinced me to go for it. I did and am so pleased with the result.
The guys did look across at us just after, but pretty sure it was just because we were going into the other bar directly opposite rather than because they had seen me take the photo. I know … naughty me. But, I hope you agree, it is a great photo! And a truly good example of how not to attract customers to your business.
Meantime, I’ve popped a couple of pics of the graffiti clad Guga bar down below – only taken with a mobile but you get the gist.
Cheers,
Gai
